Why Today’s Women are Making the Switch to Natural Beauty Products

Posted by Kerrie-Anne Chinn on 23rd Apr 2017

These days, many women are making the switch to natural beauty products, moving away from big name cosmetic houses in favour of a new wave of beauty brands that are better for their skin.

Why are we seeing such a rise in beauty products that are natural, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free?
With modern technology, consumers now have access to all the information they need to make informed shopping choices, right at their fingertips. Knowledge is power. And with greater awareness of the damaging effects of chemicals on our bodies, today’s women know they have options when it comes to taking charge of their health and wellbeing.

They also want to know that their skincare and makeup products haven’t been tested on animals or are harmful to the environment. Choosing to spend your money on beauty products that are natural, chemical-free and environmentally-friendly is one of the best things you can do for your health, as well as the planet.

Choosing Natural, Chemical-Free Cosmetics

Unfortunately, many of the products that we use regularly on our skin contain chemicals that are detrimental to our health. Have you ever thought about how many toxins and chemicals you put on your skin each day? Just think about it now – by the time you’ve showered, moisturised and applied your daily makeup, you’ve no doubt used at least five different cosmetic products. Even if your beauty routine is simple, you’re probably using a body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, cleanser and moisturiser. That’s five products right there, before you’ve even thought about mascara or lipstick!

Your skin is your body’s biggest organ. Using beauty products that are laden with harmful toxins is simply adding to the amount of chemicals you’re already encountering in your daily life, through food, pollution and cleaning products. If you’re ingesting large amounts of toxins daily, these chemicals can stay in your system long after they’ve been absorbed and lead to chronic health conditions and illness.

Beauty Products that are Better for the Environment

Chemicals not only damage our bodies, but are also detrimental to the planet, polluting the air and waterways and impacting our native flora and fauna.

By switching to natural, chemical-free cosmetics, you’ll be helping to lower your environmental impact. And with many eco-friendly beauty products committing to sustainable and recyclable packing, you’ll also be creating less waste and landfill.

Make the decision, today, to start being more aware of what’s inside all those little bottles and tubes. Question whether cosmetic brands are testing on animals. Choose makeup products that use recyclable packaging. By making more informed shopping choices as an ethical consumer, you’ll be contributing to a more positive future for the whole world. And that is a very empowering and beautiful thought.
